火绫子又叫杈伞舞或“围灯”，起源于汉代，是商城县独具特色的民间舞蹈。商城县地处鄂豫皖三省交界处，古有“楚头吴尾”之称，南北文化相互影响、渗透，民间音乐舞蹈资源丰富、风格多变，既有朴实刚健的北方特色，又有细腻委婉的南方风格。
　　
    传统的火绫子舞由“老杆儿”、“四梳”（女角）、“四挎”（男角）共９人组成，配以大锣、鼓、响镲、抛锣、鞭鼓、小锣、梆子7件打击乐器伴奏。道具有木梆或花棍、花巾（手帕）、彩扇，动作以搓步、颤步、碎步、顿步、滑步、追步、挑担步、平足步、波浪步等为主，以大场、小场划分表演内容。曲词一为前后徵调式，中间转羽调式的花鼓唱；二为前后宫调式，中间转羽调式的抢八句；三为超八度乃至十度的大跳，构成上下翻飞的徵调式花鼓唱；四为四句式的羽调式锣鼓唱。
    
    火绫子演出动作潇洒大方，情节诙谐风趣，其与近代中国民间舞蹈精粹“安徽花鼓灯”有血缘关系，它应该是现今“花鼓灯”的鼻祖。它的存在关系到淮河流域以“花鼓灯”为代表的民间音乐舞蹈的发展，具有较高的文化内涵和文化研究价值。
     
     2007年，火绫子（商城杈伞舞）被列入我省首批非物质文化遗产保护名录。

Fire Damask Silk
 

    
    Fire Damask Silk (a kind of folk dance), with other names of Umbrella Dance or Surround Lamps, origins from Han Dynasty, prevails in Tang Dynasty and reaches its peak in the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. It is a well welcomed folk dance prevailing in Shangcheng County, Xinyang City and has been listed into the first Henan Intangible Cultural Heritage. 
     
    Fire Damask Silk has three major figures: the person holding umbrella, female character and male character; and has two kinds of dance forms: big-stage dance and small-stage dance. This kind of dance is with natural and unstrained gestures and humorous plots, which make it contains high cultural connotation and research values.
